Built in the 1980's The Black Abbot in Montrose
has developed into one of the
Best Supported Local Pubs in the Town!
This has now been proven by us becoming SLTN's SCOTTISH COMMUNITY PUB OF THE YEAR 2008 !
With Bar, Beer Garden & Function Suite, Summer BBQ's, Live Music, Organised Outings & Various Competitions, etc, etc, it is definitely the place to be
for Fun, Entertainment, Friendly Atmosphere
& Great Craic!
THE BLACK ABBOT thrives on local traditional pub
sports teams having 3 Pool Teams in the Local League
with a number of players in the Area Squad and
International members too.
There are 4 darts teams comprising of 2 Mens and
2 Ladies Teams for 2008/09!
The Mens Team finished Runners Up in the League
as did the Ladies !!!
We have a Cribbage Team and 2 Dominoes teams who
started in a new League in May 2008.
The Abbot also sponsors 2 local Football Teams.....
Merpro FC who play in the Dundee & District Amateur
League, having left the Local Welfare League after
more than 20 years as the most succesfull team
in the Leagues history!
Black Abbot FC play in the Local Distict Welfare League
when they were formed at the begining of last season.
Last year they won the Matrix and Review Cups, both
against Mearns United from Stonehaven.
This year they have lifted the League Cup beating MCT in
the final at Inverbervie along with becoming League
Winners and Runners Up in the Piggins Cup and
the Matrix Cup to The Golf Inn, Montrose.
